This week Transport Canada issued an important notice regarding Registered Shippers and the removal of incomplete files. Members are welcome to share this information with their customers. The notice is as follows:
Transport Canada Notice on Update to Registered Shipper List and Removal of Incomplete Files
In March 2014, the Air Cargo Security Program sent letters to Registered Shippers in our database with incomplete files. The purpose of this endeavor was to offer Registered Shippers a chance to update their information online so that they would be reachable in advance of the upcoming regulatory amendments.
Registered Shippers who did not respond to this letter will be removed from the Registered Shipper list on November 25th, 2015 and will no longer be found on the Validation Module.
All Registered Shippers who applied directly to the Program since 2009, or who have updated their file, will remain on the Registered Shipper list. They will automatically become Account Consignors when the regulatory amendments come into force on October 17, 2016. The Program has recently provided them with the link to the website so that they may apply to become Known Consignors if they wish to screen their own goods.
You are encouraged to share this link with your supply chain partners. Assisting Transport Canada in circulating this message within Canada's air cargo industry will ensure that members of the industry are prepared to operate once new requirements come into force.
